Silhouettes in the Summer Time

a collection of photos I took one evening at Cold Spring Harbor State Park, Glencove, NY (2019)

In the summer of 2019, a lover brought me to a nature preserve in Glencove. It was just us and my camera, so we explored it. I tried to capture everything. The trees, the way the sun peered through the leaves, pathways, the breeze, movement and sound which reverberated through the trees. Life was all around us. And as we walked all the way to edge of the preserve, I found myself taking some of my favorite photos to this day.

My favorite part of these images is the way in which each aspect augment the horizon - how the silhouettes, the flat contrasted colors, the unperturbed and unbothered stillness of the water, the meek pose of the fluffy clouds,  and even the small figure taking a picture of the view (inception?), all carry one’s gaze to the horizon.
