The 45th president of the
United States and his group of followers,
have made it inevidably clear
that not only are the lives of
Black Americans negogiable, but also are that
of BLM protestors. No one is safe.

With this in mind, in lieu of
traditional street photography/
photo-journalism practices
of capturing and
leveraging the most
provokative imagery thereby
subjecting patreons to harm,
I took a different approach.

This my attempt to honor and
protect those standing with us
during this fight while still encapsulating
the profound energy that was among us.

In this approach, I negotiate coverage through proximity.

I photographed protesters from behind and those with conceiled faces.
I stood in there in solidarity with my brothers and sisters to fight against police brutality.
I felt the hum of visceral emotion, the frequency of outrage,
and the desire for change long overdue. I decided to keep the location
of this protest private and my choice to digitally collage the photos
for the matter of obscurity and evocation.
