Thrifted Assemblages is a growing collection of works that explores imagery from 50’s, 60‘s, and 70’s media. By examining photos and works depicted in an array of vintage magazines, from “The Ring” boxing magazines to thread and needlework periodicals in 1970, I demonstrate the ways in which a photograph can be decontextualized, and recontextualized, and its potential to convey different meanings through digital manipulatation and (extra)textual modalities.
